Multiplay i29 Print E-mail

i29 LAN has finished after a weekend of fun and games at Newsbury race course. Over 700 gamers played at this event from all over the UK and abroad.

It was clear Intel were the main sponsor of this event as they had a big presents including their own marquee. Their freebie inflatable hammers were also providing a lot of amusement for the gamers and multiplay's support staff as they ran around beating people with them. Who said computer games breeds violence?

The PCs were spread across 3 floors, with clans all grouped together with their own team t-shirts.  Team "Reason" who are sponsored by Gladiator Computers really work well together but their rivals team "Dignitas" seem to have the edge walking away from i29 with £7000 in prize money.

The games played in the main tournaments were Need for Speed: Carbon, Quake 4, Call of Duty 2, Battlefield 2 & Battlefield 2142, Counter-Strike 1.6 & Counter-Strike: Source.

While resting from the organised events many players seemed to be enjoying World of WarCraft or chilling out in their tents on the lawn.Active Image

The Icemat Siberia Headset seemed to be a popular choice for today's gamers and with its unique white design they could not be missed.

Kustom PCs held a stall in the reception area selling gamer  essentials such as the Siberia headsets, Antec Cases and Logitech mice & keyboards.

Scan's first visit to the iseries LAN was impressive with a large stall showing off a Rhino machine worth £7000 and Isoptope iX systems with the latest Core 2 Duo watercooled. They also came with handfuls of the new Nvidia 8800 graphic cards too, which were well received.

The "Catching The Worm" crew enjoyed our day out, and will probably book a slot in i30 in April.
