The main differences between the Zune and its rival the iPod, is the Zune to Zune wireless sharing feature which allows you to wireless transfer photos and music to another Zune.

When transferring files the Zune provides a list of other Zune's in range and the recipient will need to accept the transfer. Pictures are then kept by the new owner and they can access songs up to 3 times or for 3 days which ever is sooner. You may think, what's the point? well if you like the song it can be flagged and when synchronised with your PC and Microsoft's version of iTunes, "Zune Marketplace" all flagged songs can be purchased with one click.

Zune Marketplace will use the Microsoft® Points program, just like Xbox live. For the US release an individual song is said to cost 79 Microsoft points which is around 99cents or they can subscribe for $14.99 per month and download as much as they want while paying for the account.

Your music and playlists can be transferred to the Zune when connected to your PC with the Zune software. . If you don't already have a digital music collection then you don't miss out as the Zune comes pre loaded with audio and video files.

It supports WMA, MP3 and AAC (unprotected), this means any music bought via iTunes will not play

The 3" screen can be used in portrait or landscape with the four directional controllers working relative to the position when turned.

During an interview with Podtech the Zune's product manager Matt Jubelirer relieved they had used expertise from the Xbox team to ensure a quality first product that is compatible with the Xbox 360 via a USB cable.
Mark also spoke of accessories available soon after launch, including  travel,  home AV and car packs.
